The New MacBook Will Be Really Faster If Adopting Optane Technology

Intel and Micron introduced a new ultra-fast memory technology with the brand name, Optane. The new technology is planned to be released in 2017, and Apple has a chance to adopt it earlier for their MacBook series. Apple has adopted SSD flash storage technology on MacBook Air 2010 and all MacBook Pro retina display series. The reason to choose SSD flash storage is clear: its writing and reading are faster than the conventional HDD.

The New MacBook Will Be Really Faster If Adopting Optane Technology

Technically, Optane  is an NVMe based SSD technology with the new technology inside, called 3D Xpoint technology. Optane is claimed to offer speed 1,000 times faster and more durable than the common flash storage because it’s 10 times denser than DRAM. Moreover, it also has a lower latency, around 9 microseconds with IOPS up to 70,300.

Previously, Apple has adopted NVMe technology on MacBook 12-inch retina display last year. Apple will certainly release their new MacBook series this year, but has not been confirmed yet whether they will adopt Optane technology this year before other companies.
